COVID-19 has contrived to push each aspect of life to destruction and terrible circumstances. The economy has seen a major decline. People are losing their jobs and the ones who are still employed doubt how far their organization will be able to survive. There is a sharp increase in job seekers and a saddening decline in the availability of job openings.

So, what measures are people seeking?

People are ready to offer services at unjustified prices. These numbers are way below what it should be.

The sudden lay-offs have created panic among professionals. They are grabbing the first opportunity at hand without a second thought.

Unfortunately, these desperate attempts are not wise to follow.Sometimes tweaking around smart measures can fetch your long term goals.

Reasons behind why you should not opt for panic-underselling:

  1. Lesser Quality: Below average salaries oversteps on your true potential to complete the job to its perfection.
  2. Back to square one: There is no harm in starting over. But there are times when it is not the best idea. Do you have the tolerance to do it all over again? A well doesn’t give you only one way to come back; you can dig your way out of it too!
  3. Lack of Confidence: A collapsing economy should not depreciate your value. Somewhere adjusting to descend for fewer trains you for acceptance for a lesser worth.
  4. Inviting work-bummers: A shrewd employer looking for tonnes of work to be done at a cheap price can drive you on the edge of frustration. You did not gain work experiences over the years just to be left at the mercy of work sucking leeches.
  5. Negative Trend on your portfolio: Your future employers will probably look back at your last work tenure. It will highlight the mediocre quality of work you offered at that time.

It all boils down to one question: Are you panic-underselling yourself?

If yes, why are you articulating an approach that is heavier on a gloom-ridden future?

The present circumstances are hard on everyone across the globe. This opportunity can help you upskill yourself instead of trading this chance for a few bucks.

Someone who benefits from underpaying will measure your worth on a low scale with or without a pandemic. A crisis just adds up to their benefit. A professional relationship works like any other relationship. If it is not balanced the right way, it is not a healthy option for you to stick with it.

Stop weighing your merit in a market where people are raising their lowest bids.

Try to look through these dense smokes of tough times. You will find plenty of opportunities just tailored for you!

P.S.- A big shout out to organizations who are standing by their employees in this crisis.
